What this mission is

Looking to scale automation beyond your core team of automation experts? Creating a citizen development program is a great way to increase the impact of automation by empowering non-technical employees to create and deploy automations to solve the problems and pain points they experience every day. Mission 6 focuses on how to engage your organization’s knowledge workers through development best practices, training, and a community of practice that offers guidance and support.

Why embark on this mission

Empowering an army of citizen developers through intelligent automation is probably the single most powerful lever to pull in transforming an enterprise at scale. It is also one of the most difficult initiatives to get right-that is, without some easy-to-implement guidance. Most organizations launch their citizen development efforts with training and certification-a great starting point that gets them about 25% of the way to success. But many miss the other critical program investments, including recruiting an ideal talent pool, building optimal support models, setting effective expectations, and establishing a thriving community of practice.
